No Poker in Virtual Life

1st Aug 2007

Popular virtual life simulator Second Life has come out against poker recently, or more specifically, against gambling. The online virtual environment that boasts real life reflections such as businesses, concerts and meeting houses has attracted a membership of over 8 million users into all sorts of things, including playing games for money. That activity has officially been banned by Second Life developer Linden Labs, putting the brakes on any activity where participants can win money – either real or Linden dollars – or anything of value. This marks the first policy change related to gambling in Second Life.
