'Niche' WSOP packages up for grabs

30th March, 2008

With PokerStars already sending an unbelievable 1,000 online players to this summer's World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, rival operator Pokerari.com has said it plans to take a different tack in promoting the event.

The newly-launched online gaming house insisted that many poker enthusiasts are waking up to the fact that the odds of succeeding in the WSOP main event - which consistently draws the biggest names on the circuit - are extremely low.

Responding to this wind of change among the online poker community, the operator is therefore focusing on handing out lower-profile seats for Events 49 through to 53 of the world-renowned, month-long series.

"Pokerari.com has stepped forward to fill the niche and has started offering online qualifiers for WSOP 2008 events 49, 51, 52 and 53," confirmed spokesman Toby Clarke.

He added: "The fact that these side events have a buy-in almost ten times smaller than the Main Event gives players reasonable odds for winning the package even if they enter the lowest, $1.10 satellite or one of two weekly freeroll-type satellites."

Qualifying tournaments are running every day at the online poker website and will culminate in a $100 (£50) Grand Finale on June 1st.
