A man has been charged in the violent armed robbery of an illegal poker game that left a card player shot dead. A man called William Delvalle was arrested last week after there was a man shot at a poker game in Manhattan. He was charge with second degree murder, prosecutors said. He appeared in Supreme Court on Tuesday but was released on his own recognizance because there was no grand jury action as required by law, said Barbara Thompson, a spokeswoman for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.

The case was adjourned until January.

Four masked robbers burst into the poker game on the seventh floor of an office building Nov. 2. Frank DeSena was shot in the torso during the confrontation. DeSena, 55, later died at a hospital.
