31st October, 2007

Anne Duke professional poker player has put her time and effort into many causes over the years. This weekend she was the newest board member to Palo Alto non-profit organization called the Decision Education Fund (DEF).

The foundation helps children make better decisions about their future. Training programs such as “School after School for Successful Youth” have been able to benefit from the organization’s educational programs. DEF also holds workshops across the USA to train teachers and mentors how to implement decision skills in their classrooms. DEF welcomed Duke in an introduction by holding an occasion called, “An Evening with Annie Duke: Good Decision Making and Other lessons Learned from Poker” on Saturday. She talked about how her decision skills at the poker table could also be related to her personal life and help contribute to her success. To be a top poker player it is vital to be able to make good decisions. The best players are the ones that make the right moves at the right times. Anne Duke is hoping to emphasize to the children the difference between emotional decision making and using logical consideration.
