Annie Duke heads to the 2008 Aussie Millions

11th January, 2008

It has been confirmed that world-renowned poker sensation Annie Duke is to take part in the 2008 Aussie Millions tournament at Melbourne's Crown Casino.

The Australian competition gets underway January 14th and offers professionals Texas Hold'em players the chance to win up to $1,000,000 AUD (£457,000) in the main event.

Entry to the competition comes at a price of $10,500 - small change to Ms Duke given her astounding poker resume which has seen her taking home World Series of Poker (WSOP) winnings on 34 separate occasions.

The 41-year-old former student of psycholinguistics holds the women's record for the highest number of profitable appearances at the WSOP, including 14 Top Ten finishes.

In 2004, she also beat off stiff competition from eight poker legends to bag a $2 million (£1 million) winner-takes-all booty at the invitation-only WSOP Tournament of Champions.

The so-called Duchess of Poker will be playing in the 2008 Aussie Millions as a representative of UltimateBet.ADNFCR-1406-ID-18423563-ADNFCR
