Anthrax guitarist goes pro at Ultimate Bet

14th March, 2008

The guitarist of thrash metal band Anthrax has become Ultimate Bet's latest professional signing, the online poker operator has confirmed.

Until recently Scott Ian was known solely for his role in the ultra-fast rock group, which has released some 12 full-length albums over the past half a century including cult favourites such as Spreading the Disease and Sound of White Noise.

Outside of the niche thrash metal scene, however, Scott has also attracted attention on the poker circuit ever since his unexpected win at the VH1's Rock Stars of Poker charity tournament.

Scott was markedly diffident in the wake of that victory, insisting he had "no idea" what he was doing - but UltimateBet.com spokesperson George MacLean says the rising star has real talent and can expect a bright poker future ahead of him.

"We're thrilled to add Scott Ian to our roster of online poker professionals," Mr MacLean commented. "Scott represents a new breed of poker player that both Texas Hold'em and music fans can relate to."

Scott is presently preparing to take part in the US reality TV series 'Best Damn Poker Show', which will see a field of 36 poker hopefuls being mentored by poker luminaries Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth.
