Asian Poker Tour event to feature Doyle Brunson
26th August, 2008
Now hosting what will be the largest prize pool in Asia’s poker history, Macau’s $1.5 million guaranteed World Poker Tour event will feature a number of special poker events in addition to the exceptionally large tournament.
The tournament runs for the 27th through the 31st of August and will be followed by a number of special events, including a charity poker challenge that will feature Asian boxer with four world titles Manny Pacquiao and none other than the Poker Legend himself, the Texas Dolly, Doyle Brunson.
“We are delighted to bring the APT to Macau and really excited about offering Asia’s largest ever guaranteed prize pool,” said Chris Parker, Asian Poker Tour’s CEO. “The charity poker challenge will be good fun, and, most importantly, it is an aid of a brilliant charity in Caritas De Macau.”
Many in Asia are looking forward to watching the heavyweight of the boxing world go toe-to-toe with the heavyweight of the poker world. Some have said it will be a great thing for the growth of poker in Asia, which is some of the best gambling news.
“I’m looking forward to Manny Pacquiao going head-to-head with Doyle Brunson,” Parker said. “Manny never goes down but will we see the flyweight king get knocked out by the heavyweight poker legend? That said, perhaps both will get distracted by all the models at the table.”
The tournament has a $5,000 buy in with a $300 tournament fee, and will have two day ones because of how big the tournament is expected to be. Another legend of the game Johnny Chan, born in China, will also be featured in the tournament.
On the 29th of August there will be a $1 million buy-in cash game with all of the biggest players from all over the world – taking part during the tournaments festivities.
