Asian Poker Tour published 2008 schedule
4th April, 2008
The Orient's most popular annual poker event - the Asian Poker Tour (APT) - will kick off with a jaunt in the Philippines from May 27th to June 1st, it has been confirmed.
This year's tour encompasses four stops across the region, with events also being planned for Macau, South Korea and Singapore. Venues and dates for the latter three events have yet to be announced.
Each leg offers a $1 million (£500,000) guaranteed prize pool and organisers say they expect a high attendance among international professionals, including one of last year's winners - Antanas 'Tony G' Guoga of Australia.
"The Asian Poker Tour will definitely be a top-class brand," affirmed AsianLogic chief executive Chris Parker. "This is such an exciting time for poker players in Asia and we feel that with our expertise and skills, we can make the APT a bigger and better series of events each year.
"From the four events that will take place this year, the APT plans to expand to a total of six events in 2009. We are continually working to set up some of the world's most exciting and prestigious poker tournaments."
The opening leg of the APT has a buy-in of $2,500 and is expected to attract a crowd of around 400 people.
