Residents of Aspen, Colorado, packed out the dining room of Jimmy's Restaurant on Sunday afternoon for a poker tournaments aimed at raising money for stem cell research.
The charitable poker players gathered for the unique tournament to raise funds for three women with spinal injuries who are in need of expensive stem cell treatment, the Aspen Times reports.
Although players did not have to buy-in to the game, donations from players averaged around $200 each.
The winner of the event was handed a donated $10,000 spot in the World Series of Poker and all proceeds from the evening went to the injured women.
Speaking to the newspaper, one of the injured women Kasie Burtard said: "Being 25, you don't want to be in a wheelchair for your whole life."
Ms Burtard, who was paralysed from the waist down in a car accident in 2002, also joined in the event.
