Bad weather 'good for online poker'

7th January, 2008

January is expected to see online poker websites thrive as more people decide to stay indoors rather than face the winter weather.

According to launchpoker.com, this time of year sees a big boost in the number of gambling enthusiasts logging on to hedge their bets in online casinos.

Much of this is said to be due to the chilly weather both in parts of the US and Europe with the website claiming that recent storms in California meant many people were stranded in their homes.

Last month, website Gambling911.com claimed that heavy snow does have an effect on the number of people playing games online.

The portal's Online Casino and Online Poker Weather Forecast shows that the weather in certain US cities had a big impact, with Chicago predicted to be the most affected.

Bonuses which are often on offer over the festive season are also likely to be an attraction for those looking to play poker online over December and January. ADNFCR-1406-ID-18415787-ADNFCR
