28th January, 2008
A group of celebrities from South Africa are set to battle it out at a poker tournament to raise money for charity.
The group will be hedging their bets at the All Africa Poker Celebrity Charity Challenge next month and this week had a training session to help them to prepare.
Big names including stand-up comedian Colin Moss, Afrikaans pop star Kurt Darren, TV presenter Elana Afrika and supermodel Minki Van der Westhuizen will play poker at the event.
Hosted by casino Piggs Peak, the tournament will be held in Swaziland on February 27th and will have a guaranteed total prize pool of R150,000 (£10,500).
Wendy Graaf, group marketing manager of Piggs Peak, said: "With the stakes being raised in true Piggs Peak style, the 2008 tournament promises to be exciting and highly entertaining, especially with this volatile combination of comedians, singers and beautiful women."
The event will be screened on The All Africa Poker Channel and poker fans will be invited to join the celebs as they battle it out for the best poker hands at the felt tables.
