Celebrity poker tournament planned for New Year

Celebrities and top athletes will be heading to Las Vegas in the New Year to take part in a charity poker tournament.

The big event will see the likes of Dean Cain and Randy Couture heading to the Hard Rock Casino to take part.

Also on hand to give some tips will be 2006 World Series of Poker main event champion Jamie Gold.

Money raised from the event, which is being held on January 12th, will be given to the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation which helps support injured US soldiers.

Up to 150 players are expected to take part in the event which organisers have dubbed Operation All In.

Cain, who is best known for his role in hit TV series Superman, has confirmed he will be competing in the $550 buy-in no-limit hold ' em tournament.

The actor is no stranger to tough tournaments having taken part in the World Poker Tour Invitational in 2005 at the Commerce Casino alongside fellow celebrities Mimi Rogers, Mena Suvari and Ed Asner.
