Celebs flock to WPT invitational

14th February, 2008

Hundreds of A-list celebrities are to grace the Los Angeles' Commerce Casino next month when they take part in the annual World Poker Tour (WPT) invitational event.

The tournament kicks off March 1st and is widely regarded as one of the most high-profile stages of the WPT tour. Previous celebs to take part include Paris Hilton, Ben Affleck, James Wood, Hank Azaria and Morgan Fairchild.

"Being the world's largest poker casino and so close to Hollywood, Commerce sees many pros and celebrities come through its doors each week," said John Griffo, director of poker operations at the Commerce Casino. "But WPT's Invitational tournament is by far and away the most exciting event of the year."

While a final list of this year's attendees has yet to be revealed, everyone who turns up will be vying for a spot on the main poker table - with each of the ten finalists winning a cash donation to the charity of their choice.

Also benefiting from the proceedings will be Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Harbor Foundation, and Crocs Inc.'s Soles United - each of whom are to receive a $2,500 (£1,300) donation from the event organisers.
