Day 2 At The WSOP-Circuit
28th February, 2008
Due to a frantic first day at the World Series of Poker Championship Circuit ring, only 27 players returned for the second day at The Horseshoe casino at Council Bluffs.
The start of the day saw Howards Wolper as chip leader with 88,400 but this had been reduced by the end of the day.
Bob Slezak, a well known face in world poker, set the pace for the day, playing very aggressively. He unfortunately moved a little too fast, going all in and losing out to Mark Eddleman, in one the day’s very first hands.
Another early exit was local favourite Tony Mersick who ended the first day in fifth place with 56,400 chips. He was unlucky when the flop saw Bernard Lee get a straight against his pair of aces. Bernard Lee then went on to eliminate one of the chip leaders, John Kincaid, who finished the first day in sixth. This then left Michael Martin as chip leader going into the final table and Day One’s chip leader, Howard Wolper, languishing near the bottom of the standings.
The standings and seating assignments for the final table are as follows:
- Seat 4: Michael Martin - 214,500
- Seat 9: Bernard Lee - 155,500
- Seat 2: Ben Hock - 122,000
- Seat 6: Samuel Shamburg - 117,000
- Seat 5: Keith Murrell - 116,500
- Seat 8: Dan Jensen - 83,500
- Seat 3: Nicholas Manganaro - 75,000
- Seat 7: Howard Wolper - 63,000
- Seat 1: Ron Koenemann - 43,000
We will, of course, keep you updated on the results of this tournament's final table.
