Duke and Hellmuth in reality TV show

12th February, 2008

Poker giants Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth are to go head-to-head in a US-based reality TV show, ultimatebet.net has confirmed.

The two World Series of Poker champions will appear on Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Poker Show every evening alongside 18 budding poker enthusiasts, each of whom is vying to win a gruelling series of televised tournaments.

Sponsors ultimatebet.net have split the contenders into two teams and hopes to find out once and for all which poker luminary is able to dispense the best poker advice and be crowned top mentor in the game.

Duke and Hellmuth handpicked their teams from a field of 36 players and will be holed up in the luxurious Pechanga Resort and Casino in California for the duration of the seven-week long show.

To make things more interesting an enticing mix of celebrities have also been invited into the fold, including actress-turned-poker player Jennifer Tilley and, bizarrely, Scott Ian from thrash metal band Anthrax.

Among Duke's top accolades is her success as tutor to actor Ben Affleck, who subsequently won the 2004 California State Poker Championship. Hellmuth, meanwhile, holds the record for the most WSOP bracelets ever won (11).
