6th February, 2008

Casino Poland has confirmed that it will be hosing the premier European Poker Tour (EPT) event in eastern Europe, the Polish Open 2008.

Warsaw's Hyatt Hotel will be the venue for this year's tournament, which runs March 11th - 15th and is considered one of the main events on the EPT calendar.

The Polish Open 2008 follows the standard structure of all EPT five-day Texas Hold'Em events, with buy-in s of some 21,000 zlotys (£4,400) and a total prize pool of up to eight million zlotys (£1.7 million). The tournament has a maximum player limit of 400 people.

EPT is now in its fourth season and has become one of Europe's most recognisable poker series. Last year's proceedings saw sell-out events in Warsaw, London, Barcelona, Copenhagen and Dortmund and amassed a total prize pool of 26.6 million euros (£20 million).

The season's flagship event - the 10,000 euro buy-in EPT Grand Final - attracted a record prize pool of 6.6 million euros alone, making it the richest poker tournament ever hosted outside of Las Vegas.
