6th March, 2008

Online gaming operator Everest Poker has become the official sponsor of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), it has been confirmed.

Everest was named Poker Operation of the Year by industry journal e-Gaming Review in 2007 and will now enjoy exclusive sponsorship rights among poker-related companies at all of the events in the series.

WSOP is widely considered the world's leading set of poker tournaments, encompassing over 50,000 participants who compete for an annual prize pool of some $150 million (£75 million).

Under the new agreement, Everest will now have the exclusive rights to display its logo on the felt of all WSOP poker games, which collectively reach a broadcast audience of some 350 million households.

"We are very pleased to have Everest Poker join the World Series of Poker family," said WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. "Everest Poker is one of the leading poker brands in Europe and around the world and will help strengthen our own brand even further."

WSOP is held every summer in Las Vegas, lasting an entire month and spanning some 55 separate poker events.
