Full Tilt announces new championship
12th May, 2008
Online gaming house Full Tilt has followed up the first round of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS VIII) by announcing a brand new high-stakes championship.
Having already hosted six events over the course of just three days, the online poker room has confirmed that a brand new $25,000 World Championship heads-up event will take place May 24th.
The tournament is to be hosted by 2008 NBC National Heads-Up poker champion Chris Ferguson and will include professional poker players such as Jennifer Harman and Phil Ivey.
In addition to the pros, people who play poker online are also eligible to qualify for the event through a number of online satellites, with buy-ins from as little as $500+$35 (£250+£18)
Last week's FTOPS VIII saw online gamers battle it out in a series of online poker tournaments, with buy-ins ranging from $100+$9 to $500+35, but the higher-stake games in the series have yet to take place.
The most hotly-anticipated event will be the $2,500 buy-in $1.5 million Guaranteed, which will be running May 17th and 18th.
