Heiress Hilton shows off her poker skills

Hotel heiress Nicky Hilton has proven her card skills at the Beauty and the Bet charity poker tournament, where she beat off fellow celebrities to raise money for the families of US police officers who died in the line of duty.

The brunette sister of socialite Paris Hilton decided to ditch the invite to Britney Spears' birthday party and instead joined pop star pal Nick Lachey to play a few hands.

She played alongside a number of other famous faces at the charity poker tournament held in the Luxor casino, including her poker player boyfriend David Katzenberg and actress Ashley Leggat.

The socialite managed to bag the tournament's $7,500 (£3,600) top prize which was then donated to the Taser Foundation.

Steve Tuttle, a spokesperson for the charity, said: "What is most important to remember is that every dollar raised through this tournament will go directly to families of fallen law enforcement officers, over the past three years.

"The Taser Foundation is proud to have supported close to 500 families of fallen officers distributing a total of more than $1.7 million to these families in their time of need."

The event was organised by poker star Phil Hellmuth, who currently holds the record for most bracelets won at the World Series of Poker.
