Ivey takes lead in Full Tilt showdown

21st February, 2008

The ongoing battle between seasoned poker pro Phil Ivey and hotheaded nemesis seda1 stepped up a gear Tuesday after the mystery online gamer lost a colossal $600,000 (£310,000) in a single game.

Ivey has been holding regular $500-$1,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'Em games with his nemsis at Full Tilt Poker and after a rocky few days the pro's credentials seen to be taking root.

Just last weekend seda1 walked away with a $147,000 pot in a high-stakes showdown that apparently gave the mystery gamer newfound confidence in his ability.

However, in the latest round of online poker room action fresh-faced New Jersey-resident Ivey reasserted his authority in a grueling six-hour session that saw him snatch between $600,000 of his kamikaze arch rival's stakes.

Seda1's identity is likely to remain a mystery unless the hapless gamer somehow pulls off a reversal of fortunes - something pundits say is unlikely given his staple check-call style which leaves him completely outclassed by five-time WSOP bracelet winner Ivey.

The duo now hold all ten top spots in PokerListings.com's list of the biggest online pots of the last month.
