Jamie Gold to speak at CAP Euro Barcelona

8th September, 2008

Recently announced to everyones surprise, Jamie Gold, who won the 2006 World Series of Poker main event, will be the headline speaker at the Casino Affiliate Programs European conference.

This is the fourth year for the event, which is being held in Barcelona on the 25-28th of September this year, celebrating the online casino industry. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to hear from the poker player who won the worlds biggest poker payout in history and learn why the industry is so strong.

Theres no doubt that the explosion of poker around the world is directly connected to the emergence and phenomenal success of online poker, Gold said. As well as making the game far more accessible, it has taken poker to entirely new levels, has fuelled worldwide exposure through mainstream TV sponsorship, and along the way provided tutorage of game play and strategy.

Jamie Gold knows the impact the industry can have on a person after he took down more than $12 million in a single poker tournament, which many people qualified for at online poker websites.

In short, it has turned the back-room game into front-room entertainment and, more importantly, a seemingly recession-proof global industry, Gold said. And as the one lucky enough to receive the biggest payout in history, it would be remiss of me not to mention the dramatic effect online poker has held on building the number of major tournaments, players and, of course, prize money.

The CAP Euro brought together more than 1000 people from the industry last time it met in January - reportedly the biggest get together among affiliates in the industry. Last time the conference was held in London.
