LA Poker Classic Standings Update

The fourth day at the LA Poker Classic began with almost sixty players still in the running for the $1,500,000 first place prize all eager to get their chips down on the table. The winner of the final table will not only be awarded their payout from the estimated prize fund of over $6million but will also receive a $25,500 seat in the World Poker Tour Championship.

Play commenced and within an hour and a half eighteen players had busted out, an average of one every five minutes.

Kyle Burnside, who was chip leader at the end of day three, went bust within the first ninety minute level, finishing in 41st place with $31,280. The 2006 champion of the tournament, Alan Goehring, made it into the second level of the day but was then busted out in 36th with $33,835.The defending champion of the tournament, Eric Hershler, played throughout most of the day but then went out in 26th place with $42,450.

Players continued to go out very quickly as the chips were flying in, and they continued to do so until only eighteen remained, just after 8pm. At the end of the day Phil Ivey came out as chip leader with 1,545,000 chips, but he is closely followed (only 2,000 chips) by Blair Hinkle. The only female in the tournament, Jennifer Tilly, remains, currently standing in 11th place with 417,000 chips.
