Ladbrokes Poker Millions qualifiers underway

28th February, 2008

Europe's longest running televised poker tournament, the Ladbrokes Poker Million VII, gets underway this summer and the operator behind the popular event has reiterated its call for amateur poker enthusiasts to enter the fray.

As ever Ladbrokes Poker will be running daily satellites from now up until the end of June, but an additional new twist has been added to this year's proceedings with the unveiling of four extra semi-final seats - two of which are eligible to be filled by online gamers.

All satellite qualifiers will be joining some of the biggest names in the sport when they sit down at the Millions, due to be broadcast on Sky Sports 2 in the autumn. Previous winners include snooker legend Jimmy White and European Poker Tour-founder John Duthie.

"We're keen to build on the popularity of Ladbrokes Poker Million, knowing that it holds a special place in poker history," commented the gaming operator's managing director Edward Ihre.

As an added bonus for would-be online hopefuls, Ladbrokes Poker has confirmed it will be boosting the total prize pot by a massive $500,000 (£250,000) - with a standard guaranteed first place prize of $1 million.
