Late Night Poker returns to UK TV

8th January, 2008

A new series of popular TV show Late Night Poker, which is said to have been partly responsible for the boom of the gaming industry, hit the UK's screens last night.

Celebrities were on hand to kick off the new series with a line-up including Howard Marks, TV presenter Cleo Rocos, actor John Thompson and comedian Dave Gorman.

The show was a one-off 'warm up tournament' with coverage of the main tournament - which will run for ten weeks - kicking off on January 15th.

First launched in 1999 on Channel 4, the programme has gone from strength to strength due in part to its "under-the-table" camera shots which allow the viewer to see cards the players cannot.

Poker players who have graced the felt tables of the Late Night Poker studio include World Champions Phil Hellmuth, Jr and Noel Furlong, Cardplayer of the Year Daniel Negreanu and World Series bracelet winners Devilfish, John Morgan and Ivo Donev.

World Poker Tour winner Surinder Sunar and Poker Million champion John Duthie have also battled it out on the UK's TV screens.ADNFCR-1406-ID-18417126-ADNFCR
