Lindgren wins first bracelet

5th June, 2008

Anyone who has followed poker over the last few years knows this day was a long time coming.Erick Lindgren finally got the monkey off his back and won a WSOP bracelet in event #4, the $5,000 buy-in Mixed Hold’em.

First place prize for the event was $374,505, which puts Lindgren’s WSOP earnings up to almost $1.5 million with 16 career cashes.

“Limit Hold'em tournaments have been very good to me in the past,” Erick Lindgren said.“I wanted to use that as my strength. We had a lot of No-Limit (Hold'em) strength at this final table, but I wanted to use Limit to make my moves.”

Up to this point, the WSOP has not been easy for Lindgren. He has come so close many times, but never won.

“Until the final card turned, I was just panicked and worried that (Bonomo) might come back and I would blow another one,” Lindgren said.“I was just so happy and so lucky that it finished early.”

After winning the tournament, Lindgren called his father to tell him the good news, and he said that’s where the bracelet is going.

“I woke up my father at 1:30 am to tell him I had won,” Lindgren said.“He had not been up at 1:30 in the morning in a long time. It was a good call to make. It was really special. I can't wait to send him the bracelet.”

“The best of this year's World Series is yet to come,” Lindgren said.“The biggest events are still coming up, so stay tuned!”
