Littlewoods Poker signs Greco as representative

10th July, 2008

Michael Greco has signed a sponsorship deal with Littlewoods Poker to be a representative at various poker events, including both live and online tournaments.

Greco, who rose to fame when he played Beppe DiMarco on Eastenders’, will be the face of Littlewoods Poker during this season’s European Poker Tour in addition to on other events going on in the poker world.

“When I first started getting interested in the game, I was just playing with friends and learning the basics,” Greco said. “I’m delighted that Littlewoods Poker has chosen to sponsor me for the new season.”

Greco has been playing poker for more than five years and says he has learned to combine his poker knowledge with his acting skills, which is what makes him so powerful at the table. The actor said that he turned to poker because he wanted to get away from everything that comes with being an actor and take on new challenges.

“Over the past couple of years, I’ve been trying to stay away from the limelight and the celebrity lifestyle that i had when I was in Eastenders,” Greco said. “I’m still working as an actor; I’ve also been concentrating very hard on my poker. I have a great advantage as I can bluff very well and I can hide my tells or create false ones to confuse them.”

I’m not sure if getting sponsorship deals from online-poker sites equals staying “away from the limelight,” but to each his own I guess.
