Montel to host charity poker tournament
11th January, 2008
US talk show host Montel Williams is hosting a charity poker tournament to raise money for his Multiple Sclerosis (MS) charity.
The popular presenter, whose penchant for a game of cards was proven last year at the World Series Of Poker, is said to be holding the event in March at a plush venue in New York.
Tickets to the event will cost a cool $1,000 (£500) but all money raised will be given to the Montel Williams MS Foundation.
The ticket will not only allow entry into the poker game but will also see guests enjoy a cocktail reception and dinner.
Williams established the charity in 2000 a year after he himself was diagnosed as having the illness.
Since it was founded, the organisation has raised more than $1 million to put towards research into finding a cure for the debilitating syndrome.
Williams recently released a health book which includes hints and tips on how to lead a healthy lifestyle and the best foods to eat to stay fit.
