11th December, 2007
The Metro newspaper will soon be able to offer its readers online poker and bingo facilities after a deal was struck between Associated Newspapers and games provider St Minver.
Gambling enthusiasts can now log on to Metro.co.uk and enjoy a range of games from bingo to poker.
Boss Media will provide the online poker software for the website which receives more than 1.8 million unique visitors a day.
The move highlights the growing popularity of online gaming in the UK which is now tempting people of all ages and both sexes.
Founded in 1999, free-publication Metro is currently read by more than 1.1 million people and distributed to commuters in 13 cities across the country.
St Miniver's client portfolio currently includes pokerheaven.com, littlewoodsbingo.com and butlinsbingo.com as well as lastminute.com.
In May, the group, which is Europe's largest online games network operator, announced it was joining forces with search engine giant Yahoo! to launch online poker facility Yahoo! Poker.
