Oldest WSOP Winner Arrested in Poker Raid
8th November, 2007
A poker game was raided last week in Tennessee, one of the players arrested was Paul McKinney, who holds the record as the oldest WSOP bracelet winner. The police raided the game and caught 15 poker players and seized nearly $20,000. All of the players were arrested and charged with gambling. Paul McKinney and one other person were also charged with gambling promotion on the belief that they were the ones that organized the event.
McKinney won a WSOP bracelet in 2005 in the senior’s event. He has had several cash wins in several WSOP event and WPT events. After his win, Nolan Dalla, WSOP media director, described McKinney as a "throwback to a bygone era, when poker was played in smoke-filled backrooms. The cigar-chomping West Virginian rarely speaks and prefers to let his cards do the talking."
According to reports, a court date hasn't been set yet.
