Online poker site launches today
3rd December, 2007
Online poker site Pokertrillion.com will open up for business today, highlighting the growing popularity of the internet-based gambling industry in the UK.
The London-based site says it aims to get more Brits to play poker online as well as take part in live tournaments and will give a helping hand to those who cannot afford entry fees.
Poker players who register with the site and use rake-back to enter European poker tournaments will have up to 50 per cent of the entry fees subsidised by the operator.
Chief executive at Pokertrillion.com Andy Pyrah said: "Let's face it, nowadays it's not cheap being a poker player and we're simply trying to alleviate some of the financial pressure on players and pay up to half of their live tournament entry.
"We're not after any slice of any winnings we just want to help Pokertrillion.com players on their way to success within the live tournament arena."
The launch of the new online poker site is further proof that the number of people taking part in web-based gambling, particularly online poker, is steadily increasing.
Millions of people now log on to UK websites offering online poker bonuses and other deals – a trend which has further expanded since new laws regarding gambling were brought about in September 2007.
