PKR making strides in online market
4th March, 2008
3D online gaming house PKR.com is reportedly making headway in its efforts to become one of the web's most popular virtual poker sites.
The relative newcomer to the market has now overtaken both Betfair Poker and Ladbrokes Poker in terms of overall popularity, according to the latest figures released by independent online poker information site PokerScout.com.
PKR is still ranked just 17th out of all online gaming houses, but among stand-alone sites which have stayed out of the controversial US online poker market the operator is now said to be the 5th most popular.
Marketing director Simon Prodger described the success enjoyed by the site as "incredible" and he credited its regular users for driving the community forward since its launch in August 2006.
"In just 18 months, we've become a very competitive site, with 10 000 concurrent players in action at peak time," he said. "To have more traffic than sites like Betfair and Ladbrokes is a tremendous achievement, and we are thankful for the players for taking us to this level."
Much of the website's success is attributed to its graphics-intensive 3D poker rooms, which allow gamers to personalise avatars for their gaming.
