PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge Winnings

25th February, 2008

Kara Scott, a Sky Poker presenter, has won the PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge taking home the £32,000 first prize.

Kara, who as well as presenting Sky Poker is a well known face on Kick boxing shows, has seen off players such as snooker legend Steve Davis in the third annual PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge.

She was the first player to secure a place on the final table of the competition by beating the likes of Chris Kamara in the presenters heat. Her fellow competitors for the final table were as follows: Steve Davis (Snooker), Norman Whiteside (Football), Gladstone Small (Cricket), Brad Drew (Rugby League) and Wayne Mardle (Darts).

Kara dominated the table from the very start, disposing of Steve Davis and Gladstone Small in the same hand, then beating Norman Whiteside to become not only the first female winner of this competition but the first ever female finalist. As well as that fine achievement, last year she appeared in the final of the PartyPoker Women’s Open.

In a great cross between a stereotypical woman and an experienced poker player, Kara commented “I’m going to use the money as a bank roll, but I will also buy a few pairs of shoes!”.

Eddie Hearn, Head of Online Gaming at Matchroom Sport has voiced the opinion that, although all players have an equal chance at the start of a match, if betting on the outcome, punters should always back the snooker players, as many times the snooker player heat is often considered tougher than the average final table.

Standings at the end of the final were as follows: Winner: Kara Scott, followed by Football’s Norman Whiteside and Cricket’s Gladstone Small. In fourth, last year’s winner, Steve Davies. Then fifth was Brad Drew and sixth, Darts player Wayne Mardle.
