Pink poker cards launched 'for the girls'

4th December, 2007

A new deck of poker cards has gone on sale which is designed to help women get to grips with the rules and strategies of Texas Hold'em 101.

The bright pink offering from New York-based firm Poker Prima Divas aims to encourage more females to play the game and help rusty competitors brush-up on their techniques.

Available just in time for Christmas, the cards are expected to prove a popular gift this year – especially among the growing number of women who have taken up the game.

"Poker is hot, strategic and mind-bending, and it's not just for the guys anymore," said Ellen Leikind, founder of Poker Prima Divas.

"If you want to be in the game, you've got to be at the table," she added.

Each card in the deck contains a top tip on how to remain in the game, as well as some well-known poker phrases which can help amateur players sound like professionals.

As well as its cards, Poker Prima Divas also holds lessons for females who want to try their luck at the felt table.

Its classes in Texas Hold'em range from ten to 200 people and the firm says they aim to both entertain and empower women through poker.
