Poker blogger talks of retiring

7th January, 2008

Poker blogger Paul 'Dr Pauly' McGuire has told fans that 2008 could be his last year in the poker writing game.

Writing in his popular blog at the Tao of Poker website, the expert said that this year could see him end his lengthy spell as a blogger – although he may continue to do it on a part-time basis.

Mr McGuire said that his "good luck in poker" had meant he had received a "big stack in life" and that he felt it may be better to quit while he was ahead and use his money to fund his "personal projects".

"At the end of the 2008 WSOP [World Series of Poker], I'll make that tough decision. If I choose to walk away from poker entirely, well then that's what's going to happen," he said, adding that he was "at a crossroads".

The news could see many fans disappointed with the poker pro who has been writing the poker blog for a number of years, entertain gambling enthusiasts with tales of tournaments across the US.

In 2005, Mr McGuire moved to the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, to cover the WSOP for Poker Player Newspaper and Fox Sports.ADNFCR-1406-ID-18415785-ADNFCR
