Poker fan gets chance to play against Shane Warne

21st May, 2008

A poker fan from Australia has enjoyed a game against Shane Warne in his own home thanks to 888.com.

Nathan Perry from Woy Woy, New South Wales played against the cricket legend as part of the 888 Poker Ultimate Home Game tournament.

Perry was able to invite eight of his friends along for the poker game and they all sat round a professional poker table with Warne while being served pizza and beer by a waitress.

Matt Robinson, 888.com's marketing director, said that the chance to play with the cricket star in your own home is a "unique experience".

He explained: "888.com's Ultimate Home Game online poker tournaments became very popular in Australia, attracting poker and Shane Warne fans from across the country."

Warne is captain of the 888 Poker Australian Poker Team and as such will compete at the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas as well as other tournaments.

Mr Robinson went on to say the online poker room's other promotion, in which the winning fan will fly out to the WSOP with Warne and the rest of the team, will also prove another good opportunity for players.

"We want to give them the thrill of a life time and play with Shane Warne at the 2008 WSOP," he added.
