Poker pros hold charity event for cancer victims
27th February, 2008
World Series of Poker bracelet winner Todd Brunson will be hosting a charity poker night next month to help raise funds for a local cancer charity.
Todd - the son of acclaimed poker luminary Doyle Brunson - will be accompanied by fellow pros Hoyt Corkins, Mark Seif and Cyndy Violette this March 8th at the CMT Office Building in Santa Clara, California.
Numerous other attendees are also expected to confirm their participation in the event, which will see each player tendering a $300 (£150) buy-in with optional re-buys and add-ons of $100.
All proceeds from the tournament will then go to the Leo Brien Foundation, a cancer support charity that recently launched a sponsorship drive to collect money for its Camp Okizu project - a recreational therapy retreat for children affected by cancer.
Additional fundraising events will be taking place before the afternoon poker game, including the Udayakumar Nguyen Charity Golf Match which is to be held at Coyote Creek Golf Course in San Jose.
A poker memorabilia auction will also be held in aid of the childhood cancer programme.
