Pre-registration opens for WSOP 2008

6th March, 2008

High-rolling poker players are now able to pre-register for all of this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) set of tournaments.

Some 55 separate poker contests will be taking place at the forthcoming 39th WSOP games, being held at Harrah's Rio casino in Las Vegas and running from May 30th to July 16th.

Anyone looking to join the proceedings can download entry forms from the official WSOP website, which can then be submitted remotely via either mail or fax. Vegas residents can also register in person at the Rio's main cashier's cage.

Pre-registration for all tournaments will be open until two weeks before the event starts and must be accompanied by full-value cash-entry deposits.

Discussing this year's line-up, WSOP tournament director Jack Effel said: "We've received only positive comments about the 2008 schedule, which offers WSOP bracelets in eight variations of poker and at multiple buy-in levels."

He urged prospective entrants so submit their registration as early as possible in order to avoid disappointment, noting that for the first time the 2008 series will not involve any alternates being seated.
