Reporter visits Sky Poker studio
20th December, 2007
A poker player has spoken of his experiences behind the scenes at the Sky Poker TV studios.
Writer and poker expert Barry Carter was invited to see what life was like in front of the camera at the TV channel which is watched by an average 110,000 people.
The card player, who writes for PokerNews, was invited to play in the TV show's The Open where he was left to play online poker with fellow guests DP Fitzgerald and Grub Smith.
Mr Carter admitted that he "didn't last long on the feature tournament of the show" but that he "fared a little better" in consolation tournament Velocity 2.
He added that he finally redeemed himself - winning £18 for charity by coming second in a sit and go.
In all, it seems the poker player came away impressed with channel 846 and praised its size and potential.
"I genuinely believe that Sky Poker could evolve into one of the biggest poker rooms in the UK in the next few years," Mr Carter said.
"The television format is attracting a whole wave of new players, and retaining them by aiding their development from novice to expert."
