Scene set for Brunson vs Antonius showdown
25th March, 2008
A heads-up match between poker magnate Doyle Brunson and rising Finnish star Patrik Antonius looks all but certain, PokerListings.com is reporting.
The website noted that Antonius had proposed a showdown with Texas Dolly in a recent magazine interview and - according to the Finn's latest blog entry - Brunson appears to have accepted the challenge.
Writing on his personal website, the popular 27-year-old said the particulars of the match have yet to be agreed upon but he confirmed that it would be a high-stakes poker game.
"I will try and talk to Doyle and iron out the details," he began. "No matter who wins, it will be an amazing experience playing Doyle - one of the great legends of all time - heads up for over a million dollars. I am getting excited just thinking about it."
Brunson also commented on the latest development via his own personal blog at Doyles Room.
"I really like Patrik and I think he is a great player, but he cast the gauntlet and I'm prepared to do battle," the seasoned player quipped. "I accept his challenge."
