Schedule for WSOP revealed
14th December, 2007
The schedule for the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) event has been unveiled by Harrah's Entertainment.
This year's tournament will keep to 55 events but will now include a greater variety of the type of events on offer.
For the first time in WSOP's history, the series will begin and end with $10,000 buy-in World Championship Events and there will also be a total of eight $10,000 championships.
"This is our most exciting schedule yet," claimed Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP.
"Both amateur and professional poker players will have new opportunities to compete for a WSOP bracelet and can choose from the widest variety of games and buy-ins ever offered in one poker tournament and certainly at the WSOP," he continued.
Among this year's events will be eight $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments, which have in the past been the most popular and have brought in the biggest number of players, with the exception of the Main Event itself.
