Shane Warne set to play in WPC

31st March, 2008

Australian cricket legend Shane Warne has confirmed that he is to take part in the forthcoming World Poker Crown (WPC).

Jointly run by 888.com Poker and Pacific Poker, the WPC is one of the world's leading online poker tournaments - boasting an incredible prize pool of some $3 million (£1.5 million).

The televised final takes place in Barcelona, Spain and 888.com has now confirmed that Warne - who recently turned pro after retiring from cricket last year - will be vying for a seat at the final table of the main event.

He will be joined by hundreds of other hopefuls, some of whom will have joined the event without paying a penny thanks to 888.com's popular qualifying tournaments - the next of which takes place April 26th.

That satellite not only offers gamers the chance to bag one of the highly sought-after main event seats, but also includes two return flights to Spain as well as three night's five-star accommodation.

Prize package winners will even be lavished with a plush welcome party aboard a yacht in Peralada Harbour before receiving full hospitality at all WPC-affiliated events during their stay.
