Sky Poker Tour Kicks Off

10th November, 2009

The Sky Poker Tour has kicked off with a dramatic comeback. The six leg tour started in Manchester last Saturday and saw David ‘David36’ Bryan beat 149 players scooping the first prize of £4,000.

The twelve hour event took place at Manchester’s G Casino saw a battle between Bryan and Daniel ‘dantb10’ Brown (who is a member of Team Sky Poker at the WSOP). Bryan started the table with the smallest chip count, however he was dealt pocket nines which hit a set on the flog to gain victory over Brown.

“No-one was more surprised than me to pick up that trophy,” said Bryan. “This was my first live win, my first live final table and for it to be in my hometown made it all the more special. From being down to 7000 chips to piping 'Vegas' Dan heads up was a completely surreal experience!”

The sky poker tour this year, similarly to last year, was played in a fun, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. “The Sky Poker community is as much about friendship and enjoyment as it is about simply playing the game and that is something pretty special and should be cherished by us all whatever your level of ability,” Bryan continued.

The final table on Saturday also included Mike ‘Maggiesdad’ Quinlan, who represented Sky Poker in the 2008 WSOP, professional snooker player Ryan Day and Craig ‘OnlyOneCT’ Tranter. The top three finishers have automatic qualification into the grand final which will be held in Nottingham on the 11th and 12th September 2010.

Other celebrities who played in the tournament last Saturday included Dennis Taylor, Stephen Maguire and former England and Arsenal star Kenny Sansom.

The next leg of the tour will take place on Saturday 9th January 2010 in Newcastle.
