Sky poker presenter has 'mixed feelings' on women's tournaments
11th December, 2007
Sky poker presenter Kara Scott has said she remains undecided over women only tournaments but added that she can "definitely see their place in poker right now".
Speaking to UK PokerNews, Ms Scott said that she had "mixed feelings" on ladies tournaments as she wants to ensure that people don't see female players as having a handicap.
"We don't need to be 'protected' from the men in the game," she told the online poker site.
But added: "Then again, with so many different categories of tournaments around (father/son, seniors, celebrity, sports stars), why not have some that are just for women?"
According to Ms Scott, women-only tournaments were helping to encourage more poker enthusiasts to enter competitions as well as bringing new players into the game.
She added that these types of match would continue to thrive until the number of men and women who play poker is equal.
Ms Scott presents Sky Poker's The Open, which features a Texas Hold'em tournament every night from 9pm
