Texas Dolly to venture to Ireland
13th March, 2008
Legendary poker player Doyle Brunson, better known by the moniker Texas Dolly, has confirmed he will be taking a rare trip to the Ireland this month.
Brunson is hoping to rack up some success in the 2008 Irish Poker Open - Europe's longest running poker tournament - which this year boasts a record-high prize pool of some three million euros (£2.2 million).
The open will be running March 20th - 24th in the conference centre of the Citywest Hotel.
At 75 years of age, Brunson is known to prefer staying relatively close to his Las Vegas home and is not renowned for venturing abroad to take part in Texas Hold'Em tournaments.
However, with total live game winnings of over $5 million (£2.5 million) the legendary figure will have little difficulty affording the 4,200 euro buy-in - and he will further be relishing the chance to go head-to-head with fellow pros Pascal Perrault, John Duthie and Ciaran O'Leary,.
Texas Dolly was last month crowned the most influential figure in the gamer of poker by Bluff Magazine.
