The Largest Automated Poker Tournament Ever
22nd February, 2008
Casino de Montreal, in Canada, have recently hosted the world’s largest ever multi-table poker tournament ever run on automated tables with only four staff members running the entire tournament.
On February 12th, last week, the No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament was held in the casino's new PokerPro room. The tournament was sold out way in advance, with a $225 buy-in with a record breaking number of 240 players, all competing for the prize money.
The eventual winner, taking down 239 participants, was Mohamed Nadim, an engineering student, who won a total sum of $20,000. The second place prize of $10,000 went to Quebec Sports host, Pierre Rinfret. These two and the next 18 top finishers all walked away with cash.
This is not the first record the casino has set. It directly follows on from the casino’s first record, the record for the largest installation of automated poker tables in the world, with twenty-five.
