The Olympics at Paddy Power Poker
4th August, 2008
For once poker players will be recognized at the Olympics this year. Not the event going on in Beijing but Paddy Power Poker is putting on a series of money-added poker tournaments called the PPP Olympics.
The poker series is scheduled to take place every night for a week in August, where two tournaments will be played each night – with both Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments. The PPP Olympics will begin on the 8th of August and end on the 14th, and each tournament will have somewhere between $250 and $1,000 added to it.
“I know there is a lot of excitement right now about the small sporting event due to take place in Beijing in August, but we wanted to offer something even more exciting for our players,” said the communications manager for Paddy Power Poker. “We’re giving away over $20,000 to those players willing to show us they’re at the top of their game and trying to get on the podium – for those who have been in training these last few months, it is now time to grab their spandex, shave all their body hair and reach out for the gold medal.”
Players who participate in three PPP Olympics events will be qualified to play in the Gold Medal Freeroll, which is scheduled for the 15th of August – the day after the last event in the series. The top prize for the freeroll is a $4,500 Irish Winter Festival package. The remaining winners will be awarded a number of satellite tickets as well as share a portion of $10,000 that will be added to the tournament.
The Paddy Poker Olympics can only be played on Paddy Power Poker and players can find the series events located under the ‘All Scheduled’ and ‘Special’ tournaments options.
