The World's First India Poker Tour

25th February, 2008

Late last week saw the announcements of the first ever poker tour to be staged in India. The India Poker Tour is set to take place sometime in the autumn of this year, with an expected prize pool of $1 million.

The India Poker Tour will constitute four tournaments designed to attract the best poker players from India and from the rest of the globe, all competing for the expected million dollar prize pool. The first of the tournaments will be held in Mumbai. Then the tour will visit Bangalore and Delhi. Finally, the Grand Final will take place in the tropical state of Goa.

The Texas Hold'Em style tournaments intend to not only offer fantastic playing opportunities, but to greatly increase the popularity and development of poker and the gaming industry in India. The tour has been launched following the success of Indian players in last year’s Asian Poker Classic.

The tour will include four main components. Firstly, a Poker School and a TV Special. Then, a set of qualifiers for the main event and then, the main attraction, The Grand Final.

Participants can qualify for the event through one of many online poker satellites that will commence in June.
