Twice a main event final table

2nd October, 2008

Making WSOP history already, one player has made the final table in both the World Series of Poker main event and the World Series of Poker Europe main event, and is the first person to ever do that in the same year.

However, there are plenty of opportunities to make even bigger history for Ivan Demidov, as he has a very good chance of winning both of them. Either way, this final table experience should definitely play into his favour, come November when the even more prestigious event plays out.

The young Russian has already guaranteed himself to win more than a million dollars in between the two events, but he has a shot to make it much more than that. He’ll have a much tougher time, however, taking down the WSOPE final table because there are a few big names vying to the bracelet, where as the WSOP final table has none.

Still in the hunt for the WSOPE championship main event are John Juanda with nearly 1.4 million in chips, Daniel Negreanu with a little over a million and Scott Fischman with nearly 800,000. Any of these players are capable of taking down the event, but only one will be crowned champion – taking home the coveted WSOP gold bracelet along with the first place money prize of £868,800.

The final table will reconvene at 1 pm on Thursday and will play down until one player has all the chips. The WSOPE is being held at the Casino at the Empire, which is located in Leicester Square in London.
