Vega plans 'Poker Tour of the Americas'

7th April, 2008

Vega Promotional Systems has overhauled plans for a Latin American Poker Tour by encompassing North American destinations into its itinerary.

The marketing company said it would now be promoting its series as the Poker Tour of the Americas following strong interest among venues and poker agencies in both the USA and Canada.

It added that the move was also necessitated by the launch of PokerStars' unrelated Latin American Poker Tour, with Vega chief executive Michael Herron saying that running two separate tours alongside each other could be "confusing to everyone involved".

"The response we have received from all over North and South America has been incredible," he said. "We contemplated launching a second Tour for North America, but decided to combine the two and make the PTA one of the largest poker tours in the world."

Mr Herron added: "Another factor in our decision was PokerStars launching its own Latin American Poker Tour."

Vega is currently negotiating with venues in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Costa Rica.
