WCOOP Main Event Winner Disqualified
24th October, 2007
The main event of the WCOOP has had a lot of rumors flying around the event that the winner was cheating. There have been extensive investigations carried out by PokerStars to get to the bottom of these allegations. “TheV0id” who won the tournament collected $1.2 million dollars. Suspicion arose when players went to check out the kind of history this player had. It was surprising to find that this tournament was the only one the player had ever played on at PokerStars. Rumors started to float around that “TheV0id” was sister to the well known pro named Mark Teltscher, who has finished second in the EPT at Barcelona and in 2005 won the London EPT event. The two were playing in the WCOOP main event with the same IP Address, which is against the PokerStars terms and conditions.
Recently PokerStars has just finished its investigation and have now officially disqualified “TheV0id” from the WCOOP main event. The new winner of the tournament is “Ka$ino” and all places are moved up so the player that bubbled in tournament will now be paid.
PokerStars have made a good, bold move by admitting that their WCOOP main event had been won by someone cheating. The way that PokerStars handled this should help to solidify that they are one of the best poker sites out there.
